Wordle is the fun daily word game played by millions around the world and everyone has their own strategy to ensure their winning streak.

Developed by Josh Wardle, a software engineer based in Brooklyn, New York, the game was originally a gift for his girlfriend who loved word games. Initially intended for the couple’s own enjoyment during the COVID-19 lockdowns, Wardle soon recognized its broader appeal and launched Wordle online in October 2021.

The game soon developed a dedicated following across the globe, with some players taking to social media each day to share tips and their results. Such was the game’s popularity that, in January 2022, it was purchased by The New York Times for an undisclosed low seven-figure sum, though it remained free to play.

Meanwhile, Newsweek previously asked ChatGPT its best recommendations for solving the word puzzle.

The artificial intelligence (AI) tool recommends picking a starting word that has a mix of common vowels “like A, E and consonants like R, T, S.”

“This helps maximize your chances of identifying letters early,” ChatGPT recommends.

Players should use a starting word that contains a mix of common vowels and consonants, such as “crate” or “slate,” which allows players to “maximize their initial information.”

Then, you need to start looking for patterns in words and also common letter combinations and word structures in English such as “TH,” “CH,” “ST.”

You should also keep an eye on letter frequency because some letters appear more often in English words than others like, E, A, R, I, O, T, N and S. But definitely use more vowels in your early guesses because they can “reveal vowel placements” and help narrow down the correct answer.

How to Play Wordle

Players are tasked with solving a mystery five-letter word by inputting a word and then using a process of elimination to work out the answer.

They’re helped along with a color-tiled system, with green showing the letter does appear in the word, yellow indicates the letter is in the word, but just in the wrong spot, and a gray tile means that letter does not appear at all.

The answer to today’s Wordle will be revealed at the end of this article, so scroll with caution if you want to work it out for yourself.
