The Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks shocked the sports world by swapping star Luka Doncic and Anthony Davis. But it seems that the team didn’t make co-star LeBron James aware that a deal was taking place.

According to ESPN insider Dave McMenamin, the Lakers didn’t tell James of the trade beforehand.

“LeBron James learned of the Davis-Doncic trade after the Knicks game when it broke while he was out to dinner with his family, sources close to James told ESPN. James was surprised by the news, is processing it and had no idea it was in the works, sources said.”

This is certainly interesting since James has been at the forefront of the Lakers’ plans. But it seems that the team took a chance to get Doncic and figured they could deal with anything coming from James later on.

According to Charania, nobody was warned about this deal, not even Doncic.

“This deal materialized in the shadows … LeBron James had no idea this was coming. Anthony Davis had no idea this was coming. I’m told Luka Doncic is still stunned about this trade.”

This trade came out of nowhere and has the entire NBA world in shock. Dallas now pairs Davis with Kyrie Irving to see if they can go on a run to get back to the NBA Finals.

The pairing of Irving and Davis could be lethal, especially within the pick and roll. But losing Doncic will be tough for the Mavericks as he was the leader of the team for so long.

The NBA trade deadline is just a few days and we already have some craziness take place. It should be an interesting few days as teams try to position themselves for the playoffs.
