The actress said on Instagram that another person in her group fired unsafely in the wrong direction, hitting her in five places, including dangerously close to her right eye.

“There was another party with us and they unsafely fired in the wrong direction and shot me in the face,” Romano wrote in an Instagram post.

Romano was celebrating her husband’s birthday over the weekend when the accident occurred. According to her account, another person present at the shooting range fired in the wrong direction, striking her face with shotgun pellets.

The injuries included five separate wounds, with one pellet landing less than an inch from her right eye. She revealed that while her vision remains intact, doctors are closely monitoring her condition, as one fragment remains lodged behind her eye and is too risky to remove surgically at this time.

“Unfortunately, a fragment got lodged behind my eye and it is too risky to remove surgically at this time,” Romano stated.

Romano also reflected on the severity of the incident, writing, “I saw my life flash before my eyes, and I’m telling you, hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant.”
