How John Mulaney and Olivia Munn’s 3-year-old son is adjusting to new baby

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors
John Mulaney is in full dad mode.
The 42-year-old comedian appeared on the Wednesday, December 11, episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and shared insight into life with his and Olivia Munn’s two kids: son Malcolm, 3, and daughter Meimei, 3 months. Mulaney tied the knot with Munn, 44, in July.
After Mulaney described his newborn as “really cool,” host Jimmy Fallon asked how Malcolm was adjusting to having a sister. The former Saturday Night Live writer hilariously compared having a new family member to having a new co-worker.

“Oh it’s great. I mean, my son is — he just turned 3 years old. It was like when any new person comes into an organization, like when someone starts at work. Like, he and I would sometimes break off to talk about her,” Mulaney joked. “Like, we were walking down the street once, and he looks up at me and he goes, ‘Meimei is so weird.’ And I was like, ‘Yeah, Meimei is really weird.’ And then, sometimes, when she squeaks or does something, I’ll pull him aside. I go, ‘Come here.’ I go, ‘Did you see what Meimei did?’ -And he’ll go, ‘She is so weird.'”
The actor also told the late-night host that his son is a huge Elvis Presley fan and prefers to watch the singer instead of Disney.
“He heard the song ‘Mystery Train’ by Elvis, and he goes, ‘Dad, I like that song.’ So we started listening to more Elvis,” he recounted. “And then we were sitting at home one day, and I said, ‘Do you want to see what Elvis looks like? Like, do you want to watch him sing?’ And I turned on the Elvis 1968 comeback special, and my son, 2 years old, was riveted more than any Inside Out [or] Moana.”
Mulaney shared a video of Malcolm watching the comeback special, and it’s safe to say the little one was mesmerized by the legendary singer, unable to take his eyes off of the TV.
However, it hasn’t all been happy times for the family. Back in March, Munn shared with the world that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2023 and had to undergo several surgeries, including a double mastectomy.
