Golden retriever determined to join owner in bath watched by 6 million

A golden retriever saw his owner taking a relaxing bath, and decided he wanted in.

Sophia, who posts to TikTok under the username @sophia_elizondo01, is the proud owner of a golden who, clearly, can’t get enough of her company. While plenty of dogs will follow their owner around the house and wait patiently for them to return when they go out, this pup was determined to be as close to his owner as possible, no matter what she might be doing.

In a video shared to TikTok on February 9, Sophia recorded herself in a warm bubble bath, with a candle on the side of the tub, almost the picture of relaxation. But that bubble was burst when her pet decided he wanted to join her.

The video shows the retriever carefully stepping into the tub, bit by bit, almost appearing to be trying to sneak in without her noticing, until he’s fully submerged in the water alongside his owner. And once he was in the bath, he moved even closer and stared at her expectantly.

Sophia posted a humorous sound over the video, featuring a voice whispering “I’m just going to scooch in right here if you don’t mind,” and added in a caption: “#noprivacy.”

TikTok users were in stitches, with the video garnering over 1.1 million likes and more than 6 million views, as one user joked: “He said you know what I’ve had a hard week too Linda move over!”

“And not one single splash,” another pointed out, while one laughed at “the fact that he’s really trying to sneak in like he’s small or invisible.”

“He needed a day at the sPAW,” another joked, as one said: “As a golden retriever dad of two, yes, they have the nerve.”

Others were concerned about the candle, with Sophia confirming she quickly moved it in case the dog would “catch his tail on fire,” while some admitted they could never allow their dog to do this over fears of germs.

Dogs, like humans, need regular bathing—though not usually by joining their owner in the tub.

Owners are advised to fill a tub or wash basin with warm, knee-high water, and use a detachable shower spray nozzle or pitcher to rinse their dog, being sure to protect their eyes and ears.

Dogs should be brushed beforehand, and lathered with dog-friendly shampoo, as soap meant for humans doesn’t have the right pH level for dogs’ skin, the American Kennel Club advises.
