Fans react to Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan’s surprising split

Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan have reportedly split after a year of dating.

A source recently revealed that Carpenter, 25, and Keoghan, 32, ended their relationship, according to an article by People published on Tuesday, December 3. “They are both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break,” the insider told the outlet.

News of their breakup came as a shock to most fans, some of whom took to Reddit to share their speculation about the update –– many of whom think Keoghan was unfaithful to the songstress.

“Hilarious that he apparently did exactly what she basically predicted in her number one hit song. And she got him to star in the f***ing video! She is so god damn funny,” wrote one fan, who also admitted, “Sabrina is one of my favorite celebrity pop stars in a long, long time. I can’t wait to see how she responds to this.”

A second user wrote, “I knew it was bad karma making all them songs abt him on short n sweet,” while a third noted, “When he wasn’t there at her closing tour party it was kind of obvious something was off ….”

Carpenter and Keoghan were first spotted grabbing dinner together in Los Angeles in December 2023. Although they never officially confirmed their relationship, they were often seen together and supported each other’s endeavors on social media. Keoghan attended his then-girlfriend’s first-ever festival appearance at Coachella in April.

The Oscar-nominated actor appeared in the music video for the singer’s single “Please Please Please,” which premiered in June.

Most recently, Keoghan was a guest on the November 4 episode of the Louis Theroux Podcast, where he had only kind words for Carpenter. “I’m incredibly blessed. [She is] such a strong, independent lady who is massively talented and pretty special,” he said when asked to confirm that he was dating the singer.

Carpenter was previously romantically involved with Shawn Mendez and Joshua Bassett, while Keoghan shares two-year-old son Brando with his ex-girlfriend Alyson Sandro.
