February is here—and so is a new Connections puzzle.

The brainteaser has become a worldwide sensation since its launch in June 2023 by The New York Times. Wyna Liu, the publication’s crossword editor who also helped develop Connections, previously told Newsweek the response to the game has been “overwhelming and unexpected.”

“It’s exciting that something I care very deeply about is resonating with people,” she said in June.

Keep scrolling for Newsweek‘s handy hints to help you conquer today’s game. The answers to Connections #601 will also be revealed at the end of this article.

How to Play ‘Connections’

If you’ve never played Connections or simply need a refresh, the rules of the game are simple. Players are given 16 words that must be split evenly into four categories based on a similar subject matter. These categories vary in difficulty from yellow to green to blue to purple. Yellow is thought to be the easiest category, while purple is the trickiest.

For example, in Friday’s puzzle, the words “Case,” “Chest,” “Crate” and “Trunk” were related to “Storage Containers.” This was a yellow category.

When it comes to getting the answers correct, Liu told Newsweek “to wait as long as you can before guessing,” particularly as there’s no time limit to the game.

While you can take all day to perfect your answers if you like, players only get four guesses. After that, the puzzle will be revealed.

There is a “Shuffle” button too, which may prove helpful if you’re feeling stuck. Clicking this will rearrange the words on the grid.
