Christina Aguilera has made a New Year’s resolution, urging fans on social media to focus on “doing something a little different” in 2025.
“This is a reminder to everyone that you are your OWN STORYTELLER in your OWN LIFE,” she wrote in an Instagram caption on Wednesday, January 1. “No one else can dictate who you are. No one deserves an explanation.”
The “Beautiful” singer said she was “evolved enough” to understand that “nothing comes easy and no one is perfect.”
“Everyone will judge you. No matter WHAT you do. And/or what you don’t do,” she explained, insisting, “Acceptance comes with accepting yourself first. And the difficult journey it takes sometimes to get there.”
Aguilera, 44, noted that she was in the corner of those who are struggling to live their best lives.
“I celebrate everyone taking the time to put one step in front of the next every day in order to build the next version of themselves for the better,” she wrote, urging to keep in mind the importance of “allowing yourself grace, patience and respect.”
The montage video that accompanied Aguilera’s words featured dozens of clips showing the entertainer performing, dancing, and enjoying life. The video concluded with the teaser: “To be continued.”
Aguilera, who celebrated the 25th anniversary of her eponymous debut album in 2024, told Paper in August that she has been busy juggling family, life and career but is still excited to make music as she continues to evolve as a person. “Being a mom is super important to me, my private life, finding things outside of the stage that truly bring me inner joy,” she said of raising Max, 16 — her son with music producer ex-husband Jordan Bratman — and10-year-old Summer — her daughter with fiancé Matt Rutler. “You have to have a balance of both.”
“I have so many thoughts and feelings, and I’m a different person than I was even last year,” she said. “I’m growing at a very fast rate, and I notice a lot about myself and the kind of life that I want to live and the kind of peace that I want to have in my life. What I will tolerate now and what I won’t.”
The “Lady Marmalade” singer also revealed she refuses to put herself in situations that could disrupt her “happiness and peace and joy,” noting, “Releasing all of it into an album is going to be a part of that joy and peace that I get.”
“Music is dying to come out of me,” she said. “At this point, there is a new me that has been growing and building, and it is so ready to emerge. It’s going to take a little longer than I wanted it to, but it is what it is.”
Aguilera released her ninth studio album, simply titled Aguilera, in May 2022.
