Gearbox has released the first gameplay trailer for Borderlands 4, confirming it’s still on track for a 2025 release. The trailer was released during The Game Awards, giving fans a first look at how it’s upping the ante for its crazy guns and explosions.
The Borderlands movie released earlier this year, disappointing fans and critics worldwide with its dated writing and surprising lack of creative weapons. Fortunately, the Borderlands 4 trailer brings back the iconic absurd humor and more wacky guns.

Borderlands 4 is the first new game in the franchise in six years, with the previous title being another hit for the studio. Since then, the developer has dabbled in experimenting inside the franchise with games like Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands, though fans have been clamoring for a proper return to the series’ roots.
Borderlands 4 will be released in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
