Billy Ray Cyrus recently made headlines for a problem-plagued, post-inaugural performance, and his two sons are now publicly clashing over their father’s well-being.
On Friday, January 24, Braison Cyrus shared an Instagram Story featuring a photo of himself with his famous father. “I’ve spent the last year getting to know my dad better than I ever have,” he wrote on the shot. “After he spent a week in the hospital in the fall, I’m grateful that my dad is happy, healthy and ready to make this record.”
Braison, 30, continued, “It’s a rare opportunity to make something this special and tell my dad’s story through music. Can’t wait to finally share it.”
The post comes on the heels of Billy Ray, 63, and Braison’s announcement that they are working together on a still-untitled album.

On Instagram, a fan asked Billy Ray’s other son, Metro Station guitarist Trace, 35, about Braison’s claims their dad was doing well.
Trace’s response was simple: “Birds of a feather flock together.”
He then posted multiple videos of himself working out and wrote in the caption, “Braison, I can help you too. Damn. Man up boys.”
He followed up on the Story with his brother’s photo with a crying emoji, accompanied by the caption: “That’s my younger brother by the way,” an apparent jab seemingly aimed at his sibling’s appearance.

The exchanges follow Trace sharing an emotional open letter on Instagram to his father on Wednesday, January 22. In the post, he expressed concern for Billy Ray’s well-being after the “Achy Breaky Heart” star had trouble performing at Trump’s post-inauguration Liberty Ball. “Sadly the man that I wanted so desperately to be just like I barely recognize now,” he wrote. “It seems this world has beaten you down and it’s become obvious to everyone but you.”
“As I write this with tears in my eyes I hope you realize this message only comes from a place of love and also fear that the world may lose you far too soon. I love you Dad,” Trace added, in part, revealing he is now sober and feels “amazing” as a result.
“I don’t know what you’re struggling with exactly but I think I have a pretty good idea & I’d love to help you if you would open up and receive the help,” he wrote. “You know how to reach me. Till that day comes I will continue to pray for you.”
Compounding the family drama, Billy Ray’s ex-wife, Australian singer Firerose has weighed in on Trace’s plea to Billy Ray.
“What’s being seen in public now reflects much of what I experienced in private during our relationship,” Firerose, 25, told Page Six on Thursday, January 23. “It’s very sad to see those same struggles continue for him, but I’m glad the truth is coming to light — for his potential good because healing is only possible when you confront the truth and accept there’s a problem.”
Firerose and Billy Ray split in 2023, and their divorce was finalized last summer.
